What do the heads of Xerox, Avon, and Disney/ABC Television have in common? They are all women—and incredible role models. As the latest example of How Good Grows on Yahoo!, we’ve launched the Power Your Future program where we are highlighting stories of real women, both everyday and top leaders, to inspire our audience to take action in their own lives and also reach out to others in need.
As part of this series, we are excited to announce that we are partnering with Fortune’s Most Powerful Women. Some of the country’s most successful female executives will be sharing with our audience insights and advice about everything from finding a mentor to thriving (not just surviving!) as a working mom. We’ll add content—news, stories, pictures, videos—daily. The series is hosted on Yahoo! Shine, the leading website for women’s lifestyle content, Yahoo! Finance, the leading online finance website, and Postcards on FORTUNE.
Beyond featuring intriguing stories about inspiring women, many of the articles have a related call to action that makes it easy for people to do something good in their own lives by volunteering, donating money, or spreading the word. We show how all their actions add up to something bigger with a real-time graphic displaying how many others are getting involved as well. In short, we’re helping individuals take action that adds up to bigger change. That’s How Good Grows on Yahoo!.
Highlights of the series include an interview with Gina Drosos, President of P&G Global Beauty, as well as a story about a single welfare mother in South Dakota who built a million-dollar business out of her garage – and who now helps other single mothers. Other women featured from the MPW community include Avon CEO Andrea Jung, McDonald's U.S. President Jan Fields and Xerox CEO Ursula Burns.
Power Your Future provides not only the inspiration but also the tools for women to truly follow their dreams and make a difference. Start your own business? Ditch a dead-end job? Run away to join the circus? Stay tuned…its all part of the series.
