Nominate The Inspiring Women in Your Life & They Could Win $10,000!
One of our goals at Yahoo! Shine is to connect women to each other, to produce and highlight stories that inspire us, that help all women live better lives.
To that end, starting in September, we’ll be celebrating extraordinary women across the country with our first reader awards initiative: Women Who Shine. Our goal for this program is to recognize real women who may not be famous, but who are making a significant difference and bettering the world around them.
We all know women who’ve inspired us or touched our community in immeasurable ways. From activists to entrepreneurs, mothers, teachers, public servants, athletes and survivors, there are countless ways they positively influence those around them.
The women we’re honoring for Women Who Shine are local heroes in their communities; they will be nominated by their peers, and the winners will be chosen by Shine’s readers.
So here’s your call to action: We’re asking you to nominate those in your lives who inspire you. It could be your mom, sister, friend, coworker, mentor, or any woman you think deserves the spotlight.
Select nominees will be showcased on the Women Who Shine page. We encourage readers to share their favorite individual profiles across social networks. The grand prize winner will receive a $10,000 cash prize and be featured in a profile on the homepage of Shine.
Here’s what you need to do: Nominate the inspiring women in your life at http://womenwhoshine.yahoo.com. Nominating is simple – just submit a description of what makes the woman you are nominating a “woman who shines” (in 250 words or less) and upload a photo for us to display in our gallery of nominees. Then remind your nominee to accept your nomination (she will receive an approval request email within 24 hours), and get out the vote for her!
You can submit nominations through October 22nd. Then, vote for a grand prize winner through October 29th. Winners will be announced on November 12th.
Join us in celebrating amazing women in communities all across our country – we can’t wait to see your nominations!
